Mckay Jo - Hive Air

McKay Opeifa is a Cornell University-certified Master Beekeeper with 17 years of experience connecting people to the healing world of honey bees. Her career has spanned urban beekeeping initiatives, educational programs, and high-end honey tasting events, but today her work centers on apitherapy and creating immersive hive experiences. McKay's specialty is designing and building handcrafted apitherapy huts that allow people to safely experience the warmth, vibration, scent, and hive air of active honey bee colonies. Created in collaboration with Master Craftsman Cory, each cedar hut is inspired by the sacred geometry of the hexagon and houses two top-bar hives thoughtfully integrated into its base. Hive air therapy offers remarkable natural benefits, with the propolis-rich atmosphere supporting respiratory health, reducing inflammation, and promoting deep relaxation through the gentle, vagus nerve-activating hum of the colony.
