Courses/Conferences

Course: As part of its mission to educate both the scientific community and the public, the American Apitherapy Society began presenting programs soon after its inception in 1989, when several directors attended the 1990 meeting of the Eastern Apiculture Society, where Charles Mraz and Christopher Kim presented formal talks on apitherapy. The group held several workshops during 1989–1991 and in July 1992, the AAS held its first annual meeting and a scientific symposium. Scientific symposia continued annually, until the board developed in July 1998 its first annual apitherapy training course, called the Apitherapy Review Course which became, in 2000, the Charles Mraz Apitherapy Course, in honor of Mraz who had died the previous year.

Evidence of continuing interest in the Apitherapy Course was clearly shown by the number of registrants each year by people from all over the United States and from other countries. One year, because of the demand, AAS actually ran two such courses.

Who attends CMACC? Registrants represent very varied backgrounds and have included: Medical Doctors, Naturopathic Doctors, Nurses, Massage Therapists, Acupuncturists, Beekeepers, Biologists, as well as people and family members interested in Apitherapy for specific conditions.

Course & Conference:
In 2006 the AAS’s training course was supplemented by a conference, and CMAC became CMACC: the Charles Mraz Apitherapy Course and Conference. The new format consisted of a one-day basic apitherapy course and exam, followed by a day and a half of more-advanced conference material.  This format has continued successfully, with only one person registering for just the one day course in three years.

Other Presentations:
In addition to CMACC, AAS Board Members and members at large have sponsored regional meetings and have presented at Apiculture Meetings both in Canada and in the US.  Workshops on Apitherapy have been held at meetings of state and county beekeeping groups in Ohio, New York, Connecticut, Vermont, and Maine.

In News and Events on this website you can read about coming AAS presentations, as well as those of other organizations.  In addition, there is news about past events.
